Slow-mo, rotoscoping, simulated motion blur, and CGI birds! All 21 of these Explore La Crosse videos were as fun as they were challenging. This one, however, was my favorite. A fun little package of meticulously polished shots, book-ended by epic time lapses.

Believe it or not, this Trust Point video was a robust exercise in terms of effects. Much of the audio was deverberated, boosted, then re-reverberated, to reach the higher quality of the rest of the audio. Many cuts were made to remove the stuttering and awkward pauses, and several morph-cuts were subsequently implemented to retain a natural appearance. Someone's sentence was cut short, so there's also a slight pitch shift to reinforce a more natural sound. Can you guess who?

We wanted to tug the heartstrings with this one, so my main focus was all about timing. I wasn't afraid to create a little tension with the viewer by using a few extra milliseconds of silence. The sequence of this script was precisely directed to show a problem, solution, and call to action. Every cut and close-up was made with such care and attention, right down to the frame.

This was so much fun to work on! The whole thing was filmed using two iPhones. We wanted it to be super casual to attract younger viewers, so the edits are quick and dirty to show a youthful and carefree energy. Along with the hip music and trendy color grading, the subjects were even allowed to commit the mortal sin of filming themselves vertically! Casual!
